7.29 | The 5 Keys To Keeping a Crazy-Fun Ever-Changing Self-Growing Non-Monotonous Travel Lifestyle
"At what point does travel as a lifestyle become as monotonous as staying in once place?" Colin Write, travel-addict like myself, recently asked this question in his post Travel as a Lifestyle, on Flightster, a blog about all things travel. Again - appealing to all those travel crackheads fiending for more like myself and most likely yourself.
As I read through his article about how he went from a location-dependent to a location-independent guy and some of the struggles and mental-blocks he went through to get there, he asked this one question that sparked a chord in me:
"At what point does travel as a lifestyle become as monotonous as staying at home?"

7.28 | The Battlefield of Love and How to Stay in It
Where do the butterflies go? Those days when your love and infatuation for your exclusive best friend with benefits is so strong it makes your friends sick to listen to you go on and on about how amazing they are in bed and how you could spend every waking moment with them. You know, the days that Billy Joel reminisced about in Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. When Dawson and Joey FINALLY got together. When you were head over feet, staring into each others eyes, making out in the movie theatre, hopelessly in love. Where does all that gooey sappy ga ga shit go?

7.19 | Closing Chapters and Starting New Ones
So, I’m about to book my flight back to the US from China. A scary moment. It’s scary not just because the cost of the flight is equivalant to working an entire month on a Chinese salary, but mainly because its a big change. Its leaving behind the life I’ve made myself here in Beijing over the past year, and heading back to the US where a lot is the same, but really everything is different.

7. 4 | PRIORITIZING: Lessons From A Lack There Of on Independence Day 2010
It is 11:52 am on a Monday and I am a little hung over at work. Needless to say, I have not gotten too much done. And that, my friends, is why we must think about that little thing called PRIORITIES. Choosing and then acting on what is truly important to us based on our values. Realizing the difference between what we think is necessary but is actually unimportant, and what we think isn’t necessary but actually is damn well important!

6.25 | A Closer Look at the Significance of our Significance
“Almost everything you do will seem insignificant, but it is important that you do it.” - Mahatma Gandhi
While the most frequently quoted piece of wisdom given to us from Gandhi has been Be the change you wish to see in the world, I find that this one; Almost everything you do will seem insignificant, but it is important that you do it, is a bit more, how should I put this? ... unidealized ... matter-of-fact ... pragmatic?
And in fact, I heard it in a surprising context that gave it a lot more meaning than it previously held for me.

6.1 | The Future is no Place to Place your Better Days - What is your 2 Year Block Like?
A few days ago I was takling with my friend about the way in which he plans out his life...something many of us either don't bother to do, spend too much time thinking about, or simply don't really know how to do it. His answer: 2 year blocks. This posed a few thoughts, questions, and reflections for me. Read More...
5.30 |Change your Attitude and then Enjoy
Lately I’ve been realizing that the way we view the situations, people, and scenarios that enter into our lives is the true deciding factor between comming out a stronger, happier, better person or a calloused, grouchy, pesimistic person. It doesn’t matter if these sitations, people, or scenarios seem to be positive or negative, for we all know that even the best moments can turn sour because of a negative state-of-mind or attitude.

5.18 | ON PAST LOVES: The Gaslight Anthem - "Here's Looking at you, Kid
Taking a closer look at the lyrics of songs I tend to play on repeat. This particular song by The Gaslight Anthem of New Brunswick, New Jersey is about the past loves in our lives and saying goodbye to them. Its a great light song by a group that normally does punk-rock songs with a hint of Bruce Springsteen inspiration throughout. It is a bittersweet song that we can all relate to.
4. 26 | Life is a Moveable Feast - 3 Lessons from Hemingway
I recently finished reading Ernest Hemingway's A Moveabe Feast, his classic memoir of Paris in the 1920's when he was just starting out as a writer. From it I gathered a selection quotes touching on his recollections of life and being poor, happy, and learning to satisfy life's hunger. Here is three of them.
4.15 | 5 Thoughts on Happily Ever After
Isn’t it weird that there are times when you can look at your boyfriend or girlfriend and all you know and all you feel tells you that you love that person so much, that they are your other and better half, that without them you would be completely and utterly lost...and then other times you can look at them and all you know and all you can think about is that you want to slap them in the fuc*ing face and just scream?
4.15 | SEVEN MONTHS
The first guest post of LoIsInChina written by Mark Bonsignore on where his life has taken him since he's graduated from that four year period of your late teens and early twenties where the only people that know what's going on in their lives are, well, mostly no one for that matter. A great post about the ups and downs of life after college and why they are so worth it.

"Have you ever been streaking? If not, I suggest you put it on your list of things to do this week. There is something liberating about running around and letting it all hang out, hair blowing in the wind, your dangly bits bouncing all around, arms flailing out from side to side, and a big-ass grin on your face. Really, it is quite nice, make sure you get it done." READ MORE
“I chose to come to China not because it was the easier thing to do. I’m going to have days where I’m more elated, more heartbroken, more happy, more sad, more depressed, experience more suffering, have more stress, don’t know where I am, know exactly where I am, missing home, never want to go back home, and the rest that comes along with it....” READ MORE
